PEKATEX® RFP Box Beam Sandwich for panels PEKATEX® constitutes a sandwich core for panels which are light, have a high bending stiffness, are fatigue-resistant and convince with their extended durability. PEKATEX® also provides a space between the covering skins which can be used for several purposes. Laminates or adhesives hook themselves into PEKATEX® to connect selected covering skins to PEKATEX® forming a strong bondage both by adhesive as well as mechanical power across the whole panel area. Each of the covering skins is being supported and strengthened by the UP-resin sealed, highly resistant glass-roving mesh surfaces of PEKATEX®. When optimising the thickness and subsequently also the weight of the covering skins, this unique PEKATEX® characteristic can be taken into account.

With panels requiring different covering skins on opposite sides, for instance on one side a filler respectively a brick surface and on the other side a wood, plastic or metal covering, PEKATEX® counteracts any adverse behaviour by the different skins, for instance due to hygrothermal influences. Dependent upon technical and economical requirements PEKATEX® can also be used with one side skin only or even in its bare, basic form without any additional skins altogether as it constitutes with its integrated skins a complete sandwich structure with all the necessary characteristics already.

With PEKATEX® the space between the covering skins remains over 90% free, allowing the inclusion of cable strands or air venting to avoid condensation deposits for example, or the filling with (non-flammable mineral-) wool or with (filter-) granulates, but also foaming based on epoxy-, polyurethane- or phenolic resin and other materials as well

as for the inclusion of absorbent, screening or reflecting layers. Furthermore light- and radiation penetration is possible in connection with appropriate covering skins and also concealed and sheltered warning systems can be realised with relevant PEKATEX®-panels.

The selection of the covering skins, the adhesives, the equipping with fillings or fixtures depend, of course, on the relevant technical requirements. This applies equally to the necessary side by side joining and connecting systems. PEKATEX® offers a wide range of possible combinations and solutions to meet the requirements.

PEKATEX®-sandwich cores are available in 30, 44, 64 and 84 mm thickness. The final thickness of the appropriate PEKATEX® panel depends then on the type of PEKATEX® chosen and the individually applied covering skins. The weight of unfilled PEKATEX® ranges from 35 kg/m³ right down to 20 kg/m³. Where the emphasis is upon a reliant, fatigue-resistant panel with a robust and durable bondage of the covering skins with the sandwich core, where at the same time various functions are to be fulfilled as well as a minimum of weight is required, you will appreciate the superiority of a panel with PEKATEX® as sandwich core.

Please inform us about your respectively your customers’ requirements, so we can forward suitable solutions to you.
